Introducing Mr. Pamatmat!
Room: Learning Center
Dear Parents and Students,
Hello and welcome back! I am so excited to have accepted the very special role of RSP teacher at Dunham Elementary School. For years I would drive by Dunham and dream that someday I’d get a chance to teacher there. Alas, that day has come and I could not be more thrilled! The 2019/2020 school year has just started and I wanted to tell you a little about myself, my teaching philosophy, and my expectations.
Before becoming a teacher I was a chef and still love to cook. It’s my art and it’s how I like to relax. Cooking for my wife, Amanda, and my 6-month old daughter, Bahar, brings me so much joy. While I was a chef, I lived on Roblar right down the street from Dunham and helped with a new farm and cattle ranch. Along with cooking, I enjoy science-fiction (you’ll probably get tired of my Star Trek references real quick!), hiking in Yosemite, and teaching my daughter all of the wonders this world has to offer. My favorite subjects in school are history and language. When I studied at Sonoma State, I majored in Political Science and Philosophy. Learning about ideas and this history behind them fascinates me. I recently received my Masters Degree in Special Education and Public Policy from Sonoma State; my studies were focused on strategies to help better fund special education in California and in Sonoma County. I am a life-long advocate and am dedicated to making sure my students are taken care of as well as successful.
Every student has a right to a meaningful learning experience. Equity and access are two values I hold very dear to my heart. Making sure that my students receive the care and instructions best suited for them is my main goal. I am an advocate and believe a strong relationship with my student’s families is key to fostering a powerful learning environment. Empathy, humor, and a foundation of trust are three qualities I embrace to ensure my students enjoy their learning and are successful. Maintaining a structured, engaging environment for your students is central to my philosophy. If ever you have any questions or concerns, I will always do my best to respond in a timely manner. I look forward to a great year filled with excitement, growth, and developing lasting relationships!
