"Principles of American Democracy addresses how government works, with an emphasis on the United States and how its system contrasts with other kinds of government. The goal of the course is to prepare students for becoming informed and engaged participants in civic life. Principles of Economics includes not only classic micro- and macroeconomic concepts but also a discussion of the impact the government has on the economy, the effects of globalization, and the importance of financial literacy." - CCSS Curriculum Framework
In this class, students will engage with a variety of primary documents and comprehensive texts in order to establish a solid understanding of their civic agency. Students are expected to engage critically, civilly, and cooperatively with the texts and activities. There are three simulations which encompass most of the standards and expectations for this course: The Stock Market Game, Election Watch 2018, & The Legislative Simulator. From these simulations, students will gain a practical and, ideally, cherished understanding of the core topics.
I will do my best to keep this page updated with the necessary material(s) and add videos/resources for students to use both in-class and outside of class.
